@marc 1) As the time of the posting, "sudo passwd username" wasn't allowing that. 2) I would argue that it should be easier for the user to allow that. 3) What defines "reasonable"? Isn't a 6 letter word (ie. "ubuntu") reasonable enough? Web services, where password selection is way more critical, tells the requirements for the password. They don't just say "is too simple!".

The user insert the password to their desktop often and don't want to increase the chances to make typos. This requirement is in place both in the User Accounts panel in System Settings and with the command "passwd". The work around is to remove "obscure" in line 25 of /etc/pam.d /common-password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/939595/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
