I aggree in that this message should at least state which client is
responsible for this error. Like this it is impossible to debug and find
out what is causing this issue.

Title:
Not a helpful or appropiate error message displayed

Status in “metacity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: metacity

running compiz --replace as trying to debug an issue with lucid Beta 2 and I
get the following output -

Window manager warning: last_user_time (1271002643) is greater than
comparison timestamp (799652). This most likely represents a buggy client
sending inaccurate timestamps in messages such as _NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW. Trying to
work around...
Window manager warning: 0x4600028 (Social bro) appears to be one of the
offending windows with a timestamp of 1271002643. Working around...
Window manager warning: Received a _NET_WM_MOVERESIZE message for 0x4600028
(Social bro); these messages lack timestamps and therefore suck.

while the error output is helpful surely a user seeing "these messages
lack timestamps and therefore suck." is not at all helpful and should
have a more appropriate error message displayed
