This is because the lock screen is actually gnome-screensaver. Bug
878836 is about replacing gnome-screensaver with the greeter.

Title:
User name not suppressed in unlock dialog despite 'greeter-hide-users
= True'
Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
With the following in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf ...
greeter-hide-users=true
...the login screen suppresses the user name/s as expected. However, if the
session is locked, say due to inactivity, when attempting to unlock it both the
user name and real name are displayed in the dialog and the panel. This should
not happen, the names should not be displayed if greeter-hide-users is set to
'true', or maybe there needs to be a separate setting that controls the display
of names in the unlock dialog and the panel.
