I changed this to the Unity Apps lens, since this is actually the culprit here (I am presuming).
** Package changed: software-center (Ubuntu) => unity-lens-applications -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948453 Title: Software Center has no governance and consequently displays pornographic apps to end users Status in Unity Applications Lens: New Bug description: As mentioned here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11744631#post11744631 The software centre portion of the main application menu in Ubuntu 11.10, which shows suggested software to download has no obvious governance, as it showed my wife Pornview today. This is totally unacceptable for a piece of software aimed at the mass market, especially when the application menu is one of the main ways to interact with the OS and when Ubuntu is actively displaying information to me from the internet. If I had searched for an app to download and had seen this app, fair enough, but to display it on my application menu just because I have opened the menu is outragous. This is huge failure of governance for the Ubuntu team and is incredibly disappointing. Some filters need to be added to the list of applications that are displayed to prevent this from happenig again. The fact that an app, called pornview was allowed, beggars belief, it is not as if the app developer was trying to masquerade their app as something else. A huge, huge disappointment.
