What version of modemmanager do you have installed?

There is modemmanager 0.5.1.97 in Precise now, which changes the polling
methods for some Huawei modems (especially the E220). This may have
caused issues with your modem now. Please confirm the version in use ;)

  Regression: Huawei HSDPA modem doesn't work in Precise Beta1

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  After upgrading to Precise Beta 1 my Huawei HSDPA modem stopped
  working. It's probably some regression in NetworkManager.

  `lsusb' identifies it as "Bus 002 Device 011: ID 12d1:1001 Huawei
  Technologies Co., Ltd. E169/E620/E800 HSDPA Modem"
