If you install the latest updates (ie python2.7 version
2.7.3~rc1-1ubuntu2), then this should be fixed.

Bug description:
Sorry, the existing Software center crashes didn't seem to be the
same.
Problem=- the software crash simply on opening, and then apport failed
to report crash because I needed system updates, so I ran apport via
terminal
computer - Macbook Pro, intel, 2 gb ram
crash occured immiediately following installation of ubuntu
precise.desktop-i386.is 20120309 along side (resized) an existing Lubuntu
install.
