Satchit Bhogle, this is:
- a clearcut upstream issue.
- won't be fixed in LibreOffice Packaging
Resolving as Won't Fix in LibreOffice Packaging. This does not mean the issue
will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical
contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

Title:
[Upstream] abc numbering not automatic in Writer
Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
New
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
OS: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal stable
Application: LibreOffice 3.3.3
OOO330m19 (Build:301)
tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2
Writer (installed via PPA)
Referring to Christopher M. Penalver's comment in Bug #831305, this is
a new bug report filed.
When typing "a.", "(a)" or "a)" (without quotes), typing some text and
then hitting Enter, the next line does not become "b.", "(b)" or "b)"
respectively. Ditto for the capitalised version of the same (A., A),
etc). Correct numbering can be performed by using another numbering
style and then changing it via the Bullets and Numbering toolbar, but
it is an inelegant solution. All other common numbering styles work
fine, though the options in the Bullets and Numbering toolbar do not
include such common styles as a., b., c. and (i), (ii), (iii) etc.
