Title:
Thunderbird does not honor network-manager offline state

Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: thunderbird

When I am starting thunderbird without any network connection it
doesn't activate offline mode automatically, but ten(!) error messages
(Failed to connect to server) pop up. This is very annoying.

I tried to change the "offline.startup_state" and "offline.autoDetect"
setting, but nothing changes. Firefox detects the offline state
  correctly though.
