Title:
xulapp-profilemigrator stalls while importing old 4.0 beta profile
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: firefox
I am running Firefox (4.0~rc2+build3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2) for the first
time after upgrading from mozillateam/firefox-next PPA (4.0~rc1+build1
+nobinonly-0ubuntu1~mfn~maverick1) to Natty.
xulapp-profilemigrator popped up and asked if I wanted to import my
old 4.0 profile and I said yes. It started working away, then
suddenly the dialogue disappeared and all CPU and disk I/O stopped.
The process is still running but it is not doing anything. When I try
to do a strace on it, I just get "restart_syscall(<... resuming
interrupted call ...>" It appears to have successfully moved my old
.mozilla/firefox directory to firefox.replaced, copied firefox-4.0
over to firefox (they are identical), and then just stopped.
I'm not sure if it is supposed to do any more than this? It has not
migrated my prefs.js, extensions.ini, nor several binary files which
still refer to '.mozilla/firefox-4.0' in several instances. Is this
okay? I realize this is a minor issue since I was using a beta
release to begin with, but since someone took the time to write the
tool, it should at least work correctly, or give an indication if
there is an error! I have saved a backup of my entire (700M!)
.mozilla directory so I can repeat this whole process for debugging
purposes if necessary.
