It's not. I've had the same issue after an X upgrade went wrong and
llvmpipe was used instead.

Title:
Screen corruption on AMD with Radeon driver

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I'm not sure what's going on here. I have removed fglrx and am using
the radeon driver. Logged into Unity 3D and got some horrid
flickering. When I tried to file a bug it complained that I'm using
software rendering. So perhaps this is an xorg bug and not actually a
  unity/compiz one?
