Title:
System crashes after opening Empathy chat window in bottom
notification bar
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
The bug appears occasionally when opening an Empathy chat within the bottom
notification bar in Gnome Shell (where you can type directly in the
notification window, not a real Empathy window).
When the bug occurs, everything freezes the moment I click on the symbol in
the bottom notification bar and after a few seconds the whole screen shows
nothing but random noise. The computer then has to be forced to restart via
power button. Strg+Alt+F1 or similar does not have any effect.
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 on a Dell Studio notebook with AMD graphics
chip, however without AMD drivers. I think the bug only occured while
using an external display via HDMI.
