Title:
gedit hangs opening .pdb files
Status in “gedit” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
I think gedit has problem opening Protein Data Bank files (.pdb)
If gedit is launched from the terminal this two messages appear when
gedit hangs
(gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove
in buffer (THR), this should not happen!
(gedit:1969): GtkSourceView-WARNING **: Could not find word to remove
in buffer (ATOM), this should not happen!
"THR" and "ATOM" are strings present in the .pbd files
gedit become unresponsive and in few seconds the memory usage of gedit is
more than 1 Gb (according to system monitor) and hence all programs become
unresponsive. The only "solution" is to kill gedit or force shutdown of Ubuntu.
The problem seems to be random and not related to the size of the file.
Reloading and open file also (sometimes) hangs gedit.
