If you can not install apps, could you please open a terminal window and run:
$ sudo apt-get install 2vcard
(or instead of 2vcard any other package that you may want to install) and
attach the output?
If that installs ok, please try the same with software-center and and if that
fails, please attach
/var/log/syslog
