I am unsure as to why you would be seeing this.
Can you confirm that banshee or spotify or other MPRIS compliant players
are working via the menu ?

Bug description:
I use Dell XPS 1640, running Ubuntu 12. Rhythmbox controls at unity
(top notification bar under the sound section) do not work. None of
them works (play, previous, next...), also when i click on the name,
while it should show the main window, it does nothing. It was fine
before i did Ubuntu updates this week, i wonder if that caused the
problem or something else.
