I give up. This is over my head. I'm going to switch the bug back to private and post a full log. I had made a simple tweak to telepathy- gabble to handle the second transport tag, and it seemed to help somewhat, as Empathy would recognize the call and ring, and bring up the call dialog, but wouldn't actually answer (the other end kept ringing). I was going to get a log of that too, but I seem to have broke something and can't get my custom version to work anymore. It's something a developer could trivially reproduce anyway.

Double-checked there's no other IM clients or GMail instances open on my account. Hit Connect, the site goes "Calling you..." and no response from empathy whatsoever. Pidgin, at least, recognizes the incoming call and gives a popup.
