1. Plasma network manager widget doesn't show the mobile broadband device, so

The same behaviour can be observed in Gnome's nm-applett. I've tried two
different modems and almost all available USB ports to no avail.

As in summary. It also doesn't show up in Plasma Network Manager
widget. lsusb lists the modem, ls /dev shows ttyUSB ports, nmcli
confirms wwan is enabled.
