I didn't explain the meaning of mile-stone and this release.

We plan to release at three steps.

The first step is alpha. In alpha version, we show the implementation of
the concept and the architecture. We especially concentrated on RPC
protocol conversions.

The second step is beta at the middle of October. In beta version, we show
the usage of the concept and the architecture. We will especially
concentrate
on code generators which generate protocol conversion codes from IDL.
So, you can use Common Desktop Infrastructure by only writing IDL.
And, We plan to distribute the programs under OpenSource/Free Software
licenses.

In beta version, the developers of Common Desktop Infrastructure need to
develop with considering each component. So, we will release third version.
The third version is product version at the end of this year. In product
version, we provide the common (or abstract) component. Therefore, we can
realize the concept and the architecture.

Subject: [Desktop_architects] [Announce] The first version of "CommonDesktop
Infrastructure" is released

We have released Common Desktop Infrastructure.
http://www.smg.co.jp/opensource/CommonDesktopInfrastructure/

The programs are first version which presented
as "Next-generation OSS Desktop Base Development Project" in DAM4.
https://www.linux-foundation.org/images/8/8c/Dam4_oss_desktop_base.pdf

The programs provide the functions which convert QtDBUS protocol
to UNO protocol vice versa, via common RPC protocol.

The architecture of Common Desktop Infrastructure is written in
http://www.smg.co.jp/opensource/CommonDesktopInfrastructure/products/Archite
cture%20Design%20Document.pdf

Unfortunately, this software can't be distributed, copied and modified
in this version. But, We plan to release Common Desktop Infrastructure under
OpenSorce/Free Software License before end of this year.
