Not discussed at the breakout but an issue I raised that I think is
important is the need for OSDL members to engage with governments on
their procurement policies and interoperability frameworks (open
standards). Engagement from Linux desktop architects is needed so that
Linux/Open Source desktop solutions are not precluded from future
government policies.

Below is the International Communities breakout text (with some
background where I thought the points were too short).

Current Situation
-----------------

- Lack of communication
  - Where there was engagement with community, it eventually stopped.
  - No communications and lack of information with large Asian
    desktop projects.

- A few large local desktop projects

  Thailand (TLE Linux)
  Malaysia (Mimos Linux)
India (CDAC Linux Desktop for e-government)
  Korea (Buuyo)
China (Redflag, Co-Create, Sun Wah, CS2C)

Little communications with most of these projects, and when developers
interested in finding out the information was only available in local
  languages.

Organise meetings
-----------------

- To kick start communications between mainstream and local projects
- To bring local project leads (and technical lead) to an upcoming
event in next few months. eg. a session at Ottawa Linux Sympnosium
- Follow up events to continue to build co-operation
(DAM III, Regional Meeting) including solving technical problems
- To also continue participation possibly in local events.
