Hello,

I don't know if anybody listens to the JavaPosse Podcast
(http://javaposse.com), but they were recently talking about how
JavaScript is only really useful on the client side, so I sent them a
quick email about Cocoon. Dick Wall has emailed back asking if I'd be
willing to give an interview, but I think it might be better if somebody
here could do it since I'm just a user and couldn't go into any depth
about Cocoon and the Apache foundation. This could be a good
opportunity to get more people interested in using Cocoon and possibly
even attract new developers for Cocoon3 / Racoon / Butterfly work?

Please let me know if let me know if you can do it and I'll let them
know. They usually conduct the interviews over Skype.

thanks,

Dewi

I think we can go one better. We would love to interview you or someone on the team there about Cocoon, and want to build up some good ties with the apache community in general, as I think it is one of the most important corners of the Java community. So would you be interested in coming on in an interview and talking about Cocoon, and possibly other projects in the apache sphere?

The timing would probably be within the first few weeks of the new year. Things are a bit messed up with the holidays, and we have the first interview of the new year lined up too, with the topcoder guys coming on to talk about component based development. Beyond that though, we would love to have you, or someone else from the team, on.

Thanks

Dick

Hi JavaPosse

It was good to hear you talk about _javascript_ on the server, we use
Apache Cocoon which lets you write controller code in either Java or
Rhino JS and find it easy make changes without going through the whole
build-deploy cycle.  The built in continuations make writing wizards
etc. really easy using flowscript's sendPageAndWait function.

I hope you'll get a chance to mention Cocoon in a future podcast - it
has an excellent forms framework and now supports ajax (you just put
ajax="true" in your form definition :)

Thanks for producing a great show,

Dewi Roberts
