AbstractFilesystemAlterationListener is not present in the commons-jci
jar being installed. I did try removing my local m2 repos.

Why don't you use profile "cocoon-staging" while running this command?

What's your version of Maven? Cocoon 2.2 requires 2.0.6.
FYI: I successfully ran my own block following the tutorial.
