Next step then is to copy the release binaries to www.apache.org/dist,
but for this i don't have the necessary rights to the excalibur
directory. Can someone help out here or do i need to go through infra
for this ?
I finally have time to do this this weekend but there's one catch.
The form of the Jorg's releases [1] don't match up with our dist
structure [2]. I could...
A) create a new release structure on dist such as one of the
following:
/dist/20070215/... (for the date of the release)
/dist/1.3.1/... (or for fortress's version no.)
/dist/maven2_release/... (or for a tag/code name)
B) extract the contents of Jorg's archives and distribute them into
dist. This works for the jar files, but not the binaries and source
archives. On dist/excalibur we have binary and source archives for
each component, whereas Jorg's source archive is for all of excalibur
and the binaries are jars only (not like the old tarred binaries we
have).
I _really_ want to do this this weekend, but I'd like some thoughts
from the other developers on how we should handle this.
Would it be fair to say that, since this was most probably the last big
release, it is not so important anymore to adhere to the previous
release structure and you could just go ahead and do A) - also for
simplicity's sake ?
Jorg
