Lucas,
I see. You are specifically referring to "status" documentation...yes,
you are right that this is probably neglected, but I think that this
doesn't qualify as not being active...we had our last release in
October. The status page definitely is out of date...at a minimum,
support for require-bundle was added since then.
I think we say right on our main page that Felix is targeting R4, but we
will likely keep rolling along to incorporate R4.1 and whatever else
comes along.
Regarding the "experimental" nature of things, if you go to the download
page you can see what has been officially released...basically the core
framework. However, with respect to the other bundles/services, some are
experimental and some are in good shape. I am hoping that we will put a
push on starting to release some of these things soon...just a lack of
time, mostly.
Regarding old JIRA issues, I am pretty sure that's just the way it works
in open source projects. We have lots of new JIRA issues that get
addressed quickly. We have other JIRA issues that need to be addressed,
but have been sitting around for a while. We are a volunteer effort, so
people get to what they are most motivated to do. Of course, our goal is
to get to everything.
So, sorry, that our "Felix developer docs" sort of suck...no excuse
other than lack of time...(we did have some docs somewhere about
creating an Eclipse project)...the mailing list can definitely help you
find answers that are missing on the web site. We certainly welcome all
newcomers.

Hi Richard,
I looked there, this is all the information on the status that I found
// This is a two lines page
http://felix.apache.org/site/status.html
// This is a TCK result that is one year old
http://felix.apache.org/site/felix-osgi-tck-results.html
I downloaded Felix and performed some test, checked out the code from
trunk, compile it and did some of the same test as with release 1.0.1.
I also try to create an Eclipse project with trunk, and even when most
parts compile there are things in the trunk that are too experimental
or do not compile. Maybe it is my limitation, but trying to get Felix
into a reasonable, easy to work with Eclipse project is not as strait
forward as I was expecting. Checked Felix's Jira project and found
some issues that are over a year old, with a proposed patch, and still
there to be review, accepted or commented. Maybe it is another of my
limitations not to accept that the learning curve to understand the
Felix project is too steep...
What I was looking for is the status of the development, this is
- What is implemented/not implemented in the core? If Felix aiming at
OSGi R3, R4, R4.1?
- What services of the compendium are working as expected? What is
needed to get these services from 0.x status to stable?
After saying that, it would be dishonest not to mention that some
other parts of the documentation as _very_ good, specially parts that
aim at end users. Anyhow the documentation that aim at people who
think OSGi is the way to go and are willing to help build Felix, needs
some love. I am willing to help on any of these issues, I just want to
be sure that that effort will not be in vain.
Regards,
Lucas

Hi all,
I am looking at Felix code and mailing list, and it looks like it
does not have much activity. Is this project still actively developed?
Where can I find the status of the project (on the page, I was only
able to find information that is about one year old)?
Regards,
Lucas
