I think this is a request to make it easier to do this and have it work better.
Out of the box I get a read-only console tab when I start a g. instance in
eclipse. Jarek guided me through this process to get a usable command line
terminal in eclipse:
1. double click on the server in the Servers tab. an "overview" panel should
open up
2. click the "Open launch configuration" under general information
3. in the long text of VM options, find -Dkaraf.startLocalConsole=false and
change it to -Dkaraf.startLocalConsole=true
After this the console works fine but looks weird due to the ansi control
characters getting printed. I'd expect the jline option to fix that.
I kinda think this should be true by default, but it would be really good to
have a check box for turning this on and off.
