Ok, we already really had a passing vote to bring this over here that was sat on due to the controversy raised, so I haven't changed my vote there:

+1 to ArchetypeNG coming in

(Please make sure an IP clearance form is submitted for the code).

I already believe Raphaël has demonstrated enough merit through his contributions to the list(s), efforts on Archetype, and general persistence with this, so:

+1 to Raphaël as a committer

I'm interested to know if anyone else is having success with the current code, though, given the number of +1's. I couldn't get it to run at all - after 5 attempts and fixes I'd need to code read to get any further. Not a blocker to bringing it across, though - as I've said before I'd rather work through those kind of issues here. I'll start a new thread to catalogue them for now and we can push anything left over into JIRA once the code moves over. Just to be clear that I expect there'll still be plenty of work to do before the first release of this can go out.

Raphael already has a CLA on file, so there's no rush.

I'll take another look on Monday and vote then, I have other things to do this weekend.

Great, that's 4 PMC members already so people can continue to comment but I'll get Raphael to send in a CLA, and adjust the code for Apache.

Hi,

After a fews weeks of sorting out some niggly details the new code new by default will produce a functional archetype without user intervention, and projects can be generated with the old and new archetype plugins. I asked that Raphael make some additions which generate the old and new descriptors so that anyone who had nailed down versions of their plugins by turning off updates will still be able to use new archetypes with the plugin they have on hand. You can still optionally enter interactive mode and the code is working well from the users perspective. The code can be refactored incrementally but will be a big improvement for users. I think Raphael has done a very good job and I think it's now ready to bring over here. I've been using the code for the last week trying it out with a Maven integration test archetype and it's working well.

Thanks,

Jason
