Also, we have an area for the github wiki pages at [2]. Do we want to

I thought we'd decided on asking for a separate wiki repo (ie.
incubator-netbeans-wiki ?)

You brought up the issue that we couldn't support pull requests via the GH
wikis, and infra confirmed that although they're backed up they don't seem
to be visible as a "normal" Apache git repository.

Did I? :-? I'm afraid I keep on forgetting things.

The "PR" feature is already in place, i.e., people already can submit PRs against existing wiki pages (@incubator-netbeans-website). So that requirement alone is not good enough to create a brand new repo, or is it?

I recall talking about the UserFAQ [1], but I thought most content there
was obsolete (mailing list, license agreements, contribution agreements,
plugin portal, update center, blogging) and we decided not to port it.
The UserFAQ is _huge_, by the way.

OK, that makes sense - losing track of where we got to. At the same time,
we potentially lose some useful information if we don't do something with
those pages, and quite a lot that aren't linked in either faq.

So, what about bringing all the wiki into a separate repository (where it
will still be browse-able on GH) and prune / edit there before bringing any
more across to the website?

The problem with "all the wiki" is defining what "all the wiki" means. I haven't been able to find a listing of all wiki pages. What the tool does is to scan an "index" page for links, and then download those links.

I've downloaded all the NetBeansUserFAQ linked entries and that makes 444 files. I thought that could be bigger.

Other option would be a branch for this on the main website repo. Might
help with history? Could end up a mess! Depends how wiki-like we want our
not-a-wiki to be! ;-)

X^D Love that not-a-wiki thing. But hey, we can always use Apache's own wiki tooling.

I think I can submit a PR against incubator-netbeans-website directly with those 444 files. Build times will grow considerably, I'm afraid.

Cheers,
Antonio

Best wishes,

Neil
