You know, long ago I was more of an Emacs guy (because, LISP!) but then I gradually switched to Vi since it's available everywhere and if I just need to tweak one file I might as well use what's there. No statistics notices this I guess.
Our over 1M users are hard to understand because they are very quiet. You would assume that from 1M users you would have a whole lot of them commenting on issues/twitter/facebook/emails/etc. In reality people just use your thing as-is. In time, if it doesn't fit their needs, they just silently switch. At most you might get an off-hand comment in a random context: "oh, NetBeans?
