There *was* a reason! 8.0, 8.1 and 8.2 were hardly minor - the 8 just referred to Java 8. There was a discussion about moving away from sync with Java versions and just incrementing the number for every release (Firefox, Chrome, JDK style). That was the reason for dropping the zero, because 10.1 could also have just been NB10 patch 1. Now whether everyone is on the same page about that versioning scheme is another matter. Don't think you can answer this thread without being sure of that. Maybe a vote is required?
