Lewis John McGibbney commented on NUTCH-1537:
---------------------------------------------

@Kiran, rather than changing the issue description, I prefer to accept that I
probably got it wrong, and to continue the conversation here regardless.
I suppose this issue concerns the following

* reducing/removing the stuff that we needed (for instance HttpsHeaders,
CreativeCommons, etc) and don't need any more as we can take it from Apache
Tika, and
* building on the stuff that we need. An example of this is to review the
Feed.java method and ask the questions "Do we need this? Is there a better way
of doing this... Is Apache Tika the answer?"

I am open (and will encourage) this issue to grown/change and will also work to
make the Nutch metadata package better.

> Legacy metadata package needs to take advantage of Apache Tika metadata
> package more.

> In Nutch, classes from the metadata package are being used in quite a number
> of places. It is not currently being used to reflect the work going on in
> Apache Tika and we need to better leverage the vocabularies available to us
> from the dependency on Apache Tika.
> The introduction of TikaCoreProperties in Tika 1.2 is not currently leveraged
> in Nutch. This is just one example of an improved way for us to add metadata
> to Nutch documents.
