Love it.

Everyone uses metadata, not just scientists, and business applications must 
have a load of it just begging for OODT's capabilities.

We do a lot of "virtual labs" with OODT by bringing together disparate 
institutions & databases to create a super-lab that federates them all. Why not 
"virtual banks" or "virtual brokers" or "virtual insurers" or "virtual art 
galleries" or "virtual marketplaces" or "virtual water districts" or "virtual 
power grids" etc.
