FYI: This work is already being tracked as SLING-11906 and a pending pull
request associated with that ticket has done the refactoring to make it
function. The joran changes were definitely substantial so the proposed pull
request has extensive changes.
If you are interested in contributing to that effort, please review the pull
request and provide any feedback you may have. Even better would be to help do
the remaining work to resolve the remaining concerns so that the changes can
finally be merged.
