Tomcat output and debugging output
An exception occurs when Tomcat 4.1.37 is running on JDK 1.3 platform.
The problem can be emulated following the steps:
1) Download the
http://archive.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-4/v4.1.37/bin/apache-tomcat-4.1.37.zip
and unpack it at C:\
2) Set the environment variable JAVA_HOME to a jdk1.3 (my is jdk1.3.1_20).
3) Start the Tomcat.
4) Access http://localhost:8080 at your browser.
I have attached the output of Tomcat running normally and in debug mode.
As you can see in the debug output, I inserted a breakpoint at line 305 of
class ServerCookie and I have found that the JVM does not find the method
StringBuffer.append(Object).
The problem reported does not happen in Tomcat 4.1.36 + JDK 1.3.
Also, the problem does not happen in the Tomcat 4.1.37 reported here, when
running on JDK 1.4 platform (my is jdk1.4.2_17).
Regards,
