We have to serve files from a directory shared by many webapps. One way to do
this is to create a symlink in the docBase. However, it doesn't work well on
Windows and the files get removed at undeployment. It would be nice if Tomcat
allows application to access resources in multiple directories.
We have been using the extension suggested by this website,

I think it will be a nice feature to add to the Tomcat.
