I had a play around with Karaf (http://karaf.apache.org) over the
weekend and was wondering if we should look at having a Tuscany
runtime based on it. Karaf is an OSGi based container that bundles up
a set of useful things to create a server and its used by things like
Geronimo and ServiceMix, and it has things like Aries running in it
already. Its management console looks really good and can be accessed
in a variety of ways including from a browser. We already have a lot
of Tuscany code and support for OSGi but we don't show actually using
that for much useful so having a Karaf based runtime would help do
that and could be quite compelling i think. It would help validate and
show hwo to use Tuscany in other OSGi based environments too which
would be good. I'm not sure how much time i'd have to do this by
myself though so wondered if anyone else would be interested in this
and helping out?
