This sounds very interesting indeed, so actually with the the new WebAPI WebUSB 
this should become possible; https://wiki.mozilla.org/WebAPI/WebUSB
I haven't looked into it just yet, but since you're having a particular 
interest in it I'd thought I'd just point you to it.
