Thanks everyone for dogfooding!
There are two caveats to the feedback notes below:
1) I've tried to make sure the feedback is for people on the latest
builds but some may have slipped through. Because builds only went out
Friday, feedback is relatively sparse.
2) I'm trying to minimize the feedback about issues that only appear
with the simulator. Ever since this past week, feedback from simulator
users is drowning out that from users with physical devices.
Unfortunately, I can't always tell so I'm erring on the side of caution
and reporting everythingbut some of it could be just problems with the
simulator and not with physical devices.
====
First some good news: a lot of reports of working updates and a pretty
smooth FOTA update experience.Also, performance seems to have gotten a
lot better, with numerous people commenting on faster swipe speedsand
app load times.
The big issue of the weekend is that the keyboard doesn't close. We saw
this a little before the new update but it seems to happen a lot more
frequently now.
Everything.me
(A lot of comments from people playing with the simulator are also
around everything.me so it's possible all of the ones below are actually
not reproducible on a physical device)
* Can't add everything.me shortcutsto the home screen(as in long-tap
doesn't work on everything.me)
* Can't go back a screen in everything.me
Updates:
* If you fall off wifi while updating you need to restart the phone to
get it to work. This was reported a couple times where update wouldn't
complete even if you get back on wifi... and you needed to restart the
phone.
* Update removed icons for apps installed from the marketplace (At least
for the twitter app)
SMS:
Deleting a SMS message takes forever (try deleting all of them) -- may
be a perf regression here.
Need to hit send twice to send an SMS (the first send just closes the
keyboard)
No autocomplete on contacts in SMS. (So you can't type Joh and have it
offer contacts)
Other things:
* Backlight not as brightas it was before (like autobrightness is now
always the lowest setting)
* Setting the screen timeout to "Never" causes the display to go dim
(which is almost the opposite of you want) -- bug 811140
* Wallpaper and PDF apps don't work yet, and give a directory listing
rather than a gallery view.
* Once you turn off wifi, you can't turn it back on, switch stays stuck
in off
* Can't do 24-hour time display
* Too many lines of time on the home screen/lock screen (Shows things
like timezone)
* No physical back button and UI is inconsistent on how to go back.
* Scrolling in the browser causes painting problems
* For rearranging apps on the home screen, can't rearrange more than one
when the appsare inthe bouncing state.
* Feels too similar to iOS and Android (did we announce something about
it being different? People seem to have gotten an expectation that it
was goingto be completely unlike iOS or android)
* In card view, you should be able to click on dock icons
* The bluetooth icon in the notifications area doesn't light up when
bluetooth is on.
* Some graphics/painting issues on the edge of the screen (may be
simulator specific)
* Tried to clear a notification for a missed call and got message 'Home
screen is not loading properly.'
Here is a not-comprehensive list of issues with the simulator:
* Can'treliably click-drag (or swipe)
* Can't get the notifications to come down
* Can't reliably click-hold
* Issues with wifi and SIM card settings
* Can't geolocate
* The simulator seemed to have a particular problem with the keyboard
not going away (happens even on the feedback app)
* There isn't a back button but a lot of people expect one
* Some apps have too high a resolution - in particular the penguin game
