I'm also interested in knowing when we're going to actually ship 1.3.
Right now there are still 21 open bugs marked as 1.3+ and that number
has been pretty stable for a while. Working on 1.3 bugs eats away from
the time we can spend on 1.4 bugs. Many 1.3 deadlines have come and gone
but it doesn't appear that we are any closer to actually tying it off
and shipping it. Can you provide any information on this?
Thanks,
kats

Hi, everyone,
I know some of you may already know the process, but still want to
deploy the message in order to make sure all of us are aligned.
*1.4+ Flag and uplift process*
1.4+ flag is used to identify what bugs should be blockers for Firefox
OS v1.4. Bugs with this flag means they are important to be fixed.
General definition of blockers can be found
here(https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/Triage#Issues_that_Should_Block). We
assume all 1.4 blockers will be uplifted to 1.4 branch. But, we
encourage developers to highlight bugs that have larger scope of fixes,
or don't have enough testing, or any other risks. Then, our release
management team can help to evaluate the scope with bug owners in order
to decide if these bugs should be uplifted to 1.4 branch. The goal is to
make sure our 1.4 branch is always green.
In Firefox OS v1.3, we had Fabrice as the sheriff and he helped a lot as
the gatekeeper in the uplift process. Thank you, Fabrice! In v1.4, we
will have our release management team as the one to give approval for
all v1.4 uplift requests.
Detailed landing process can be found here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Release_Management/B2G_Landing#Landing_Procedure_4.
Thanks for release management team's help to collect all these information.
*How to ask approvals to uplift patches to v1.4? *
If you see any bugs that require more attention to evaluate if the bugs
should be uplifted or not, please help to follow the proposed working
flow here. After attaching patches to bugs, you can see there have lots
of flags in the right hand side. Please choose approval-gaia-v1.4 for
Gaia patches and choose approval-mozilla-aurora for Gecko patches), mark
it as ?, and leave the requestee blank. Release management team will
work with corresponding owners to see if we should uplift the patch to 1.4.
Since v1.4 branch was created, please help to follow the proposed
working flow. Suggestions and/or comments are welcome. The information
above is our proposed flow, after discussing with the release management
team. I am highly appreciated for our release management team's help on
this topic. Thank you, Lawrence, Bhavana and Preeti.
For any other questions, NI to [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> in bugs will get release management's
attention.
Thanks.
