It's been a really long time since I built the desktop version so I am not sure
what you are running into…
The only advice I can think of at this moment in time is :
"You may experience annoying rendering problems. To avoid them, add the
following line to your gaia/profile/user.js file:
user_pref("layers.acceleration.disabled", true);"
