I expect to receive a [Ricoh Theta][1] in the upcoming days. For
taking pictures, the camera only has a shutter button. Exposure
compensation and remote shutter are supposed to be controlled via a
smartphone app, available for Android and iOS. For wireless
connection, the camera provides a Wi-Fi access point: SSID and
password are printed on the bottom of the camera.

So it would be possible to connect to the camera from a Firefox OS
device. To send commands for remote control, however, a non-HTTP
protocol [needs to be used][2]: [PTP/IP][3]

This protocol is used also by other Wi-Fi enabled cameras, of which
there are more and more.

Does Firefox OS provide a method to interface with devices using
custom protocols built on top of TCP/IP?
