In order to launch() an app you need access to its App object [1]. Can a privileged app get access to the App object of another app installed from another origin via window.navigator.mozApps.checkInstalled(manifestURL)? If not, then you'd need access to the getAll method of the Apps Management API which is still only available to certified apps [3][4]. If you know the manifest URL of the second app and it's possible to access its App object then you might be able to launch() it. But at best it sounds like this will only work if the first app is a packaged privileged app and the second app is a hosted app with a known, fixed manifest URL, and both apps are already installed? If it does work then yay, we re-invented hyperlinks in a very complicated way :) 1. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/App 2. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Apps.mgmt.getAll 3. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Apps/Build/App_permissions#Certified_app_permissions 4. https://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/source/dom/apps/PermissionsTable.jsm#196
