This is the exact build instruction I used to make my profile-debug, so we are 
on the same page there.

Confirmed - run with a DEBUG=1 DESKTOP=0 make profile, the Mulet starts up 
fine, and works as expected (albeit not with the behaviour I was moaning about 
below ;-) )
