Interesting subject!
I've been a Systems Administrator for 20+ years.
with focus on Linux, Internet, and my FAV,, REALITY TRUTH, aka "conspiracy".

your quote: "should not be considered as trustfully as,say, a laptop, since a
laptop can be built upon open components [0], whereby a smartphone cannot [1]."

there is no difference between a cellphone or a laptop. they both are
computers. they both have monitors, keyboards, input devices, processors, etc.

What it seems you're concerned about is the software that is running on these
devices, and if they are secure or not. You also are pleading to everyone to
get together and find a way to "secure everything". am I right about that?

So, I'll assume you are. and let you know a few things.
#1 unless the software is "open source" where all of society can view the
"source code", it can't be trusted! EVER!

Why do I say this. I'll give you a few examples.
#1 windows OS is notorious for having "back door functions", to allow the
government access without restrictions. - and yes there have been well
documented "reverse engineering" to find the code..

#2 Google. YES, google, has all of the hardware on their flagship OS Android
"closed source". - and yes there have been "reverse engineering" to find the
offending code.... also, the "cloud backup and storage" that android uses, is
officially associated with the US GOV "PRISM" - fact and officially stated:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRISM_%28surveillance_program%29

sooo, google can't be trusted either.

then we have the famous "anti-virus" giants who's software we trust and is
"closed source". well yea you guessed it, many have been caught "unofficially"
hiring virus creators in Russia and China, so they can have a product to sell!!!

So now you know some fundamental facts: nothing can be trusted unless its open
source. So, what do you do? you stand behind an open source product. ohhh say.
B2G! Mozilla Firefox OS!!! and you help develop it!

Can you imagine how society can benefit from a Firefox OS that's both for
cellphones AND a desktop? with them having a quantum certificate TOR network to
browse within??? the ISP's and the governments couldn't spy on you EVER! With
easy to use software like wordpress and friendica "facebook clones" in a
decentralized internet style surfing?? with decentralized storage from your
desktop to your cellphone, without having to use insecure "cloud" storage??
WOW!!!

now that's an awesome project everyone should aspire to help humanity with!!!
I hope that clarifies things with you. OH, and if you get replies by people
saying i'm crazy and nothing is true. research this:
