I faced this problem too. When I inquired on the #gaia IRC channel, they
gave me the same response as Jonas did (above). They also told me they had
plans to change that. However, they didn't tell me any deadline.

So, I packaged my HTML files into an App and Installed it on the device. I
would too like to see this feature soon! It doesn't make much sense to not
have it since the browser would run everything from a sandboxed environment.
