I don't actually think that homescreen-as-link is as new as it might
seem. In both cases clicking the home button brings up the homescreen.

I think the bigger change is that icons on the homescreen now always
goes to an "apps" start page, rather than wherever you last left off
in the app.

Yeah. Until we have transitioned to using service workers, I think we
should just send the message to one of the pages (the one most
recently used?) if the same page is open in multiple sessions.
