Hi dev-gaia and dev-b2g,

I'm pleased to announce "Spark," a part of the Ignite initiative. Spark is
a set of tools, customizations, and features built on top of the next
generation of the Firefox OS platform. Spark has been in progress for
months, but in experimental stages. Spark was formerly known as
"Lightsaber."

Spark empowers users to customize their experience, hack whatever they want
to, and make their devices truly theirs. We will leverage web technologies
for real-time hacking, as other platforms rely on native binaries that are
difficult to edit once compiled.

A small set of the really cool new features include:

   - "Customizer," a set of on-device developer tools for making code
changes and having them persist the next time an app starts. You could
write an entire app with this if you wanted to.
   - Add-ons for adding new functionality to existing apps.
   - "P2P Sharing," an app for sharing apps and add-ons with nearby people.
   - "Theme Editor," a studio for making changes to themes, so that you can
get the look and feel that you want for your phone.

We plan to iterate rapidly on the Spark feature set. The first release is a
set of basic building blocks and a framework that we will then build upon.
