Sad, but true. TeX needs to catch up.

However, looking at Microsoft's math booklet I find a number of samples rather 
unsatisfactory. So if the booklet reflects the current state of the art then in 
my opinion there will still be ample room for improving the typographic quality 
of math. TeX could jump ahead and fill the innovation gap again.
