It does not work with filenames and synonyms of language names are not
permitted, too.
The source for the wiki pages are the command definitions but there is
only a limited number of arguments for each key. In a case like this a
decision has to be made which argument is used for the pattern key and
since the key loads a file with contains the argument as part of its
name the entry is "patterns=FILE".
The same is the case for \usetypescriptfile and \usesymbol which also
use FILE for the argument.
The reason why one uses "en", "agr" etc. as arguments for the pattern
key is that the files use the language codes as part of the file name.
