Agreed. Trying to migrate my app that was embedding mozilla 1.7.5
forward to using the Firefox 1.5.2 source base is proving to be quite
frustrating. Some of the APIs have been cleaned up nicely, but I'm
still fumbling around trying to figure out how to properly build and
link to get my application up and running. The XUL Runner
documentation is nowhere near sufficient for one to get up and
embedding with that solution.

embedding Mozilla
is the incosistency of the documentation. I've seen calls to
NS_InitiEmbedding(), XPCOMGlueStartup(), and XRE_InitEmbedding and

not really sure which one I should be using.
