This sounds more like an embedding question of how to communicate with
Firefox XPCOM from an external application.
Cross-posting to mozilla.dev.embedding and setting follow-up to.

My test team has written extensive automated tests for our application
in IE. The test harness is an external .NET forms application which
launches an instance of IE, retrieves the WebBrowser using
SHDocVw.ShellWindows (which is specific to IE).
Now we have a requirement to support Firefox. I need to modify our
tests to retrieve Firefox's document object. I know that Firefox
supports the object model, however I don't know how
to get model's document from an seperate application (i.e, our test
harness). Is it possible without embedding the Firefox control in our
.NET forms application?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks...
