It turns out that because I was accessing the web from within a hotel
on a wireless link, the hotel was trying to redirect me to an https
site for the wireless authorization. That's why the NSS kicked in. If
I do the authorization in another browser, it works. However, I wolud
still like to know what I'm missing in the embedding case to view https
sites.

This error happens every time when I try to view an https site from
within my embedding app.
