This XulRunner looks interesting, it would probably have a main app 
(taskbar icon, manage gadgets/widgets) and a seperate XulRunner instance 
for each plugin (they are typically run as separate processes).

Has anyone heard of any gadgets/widget project using Mozilla technology?

I have written plugins for all of the above gadget engines and all of 
them are fairly lacking.  They are all based on IE and the Microsoft 
Scripting Platform and are subject to the difficulties and limitations 
of most Microsoft technology.

What I would give to use FireBug to write gadgets!
